BAMF Books: Account & Data Deletion

BAMF Books does have user accounts, but they are self-hosted: all accounts and data live in the operator's own database, on infrastructure the operator controls. The publisher (BAMF Apps LLC) stores nothing and therefore cannot delete anything on your behalf. Deletion is performed by the operator (admin) of your BAMF Books instance.

If you are a user of an instance someone else runs

Ask the administrator of that instance to deactivate or delete your account. They can do this from the app's Users area. If you don't know who runs the instance, contact the organization that gave you access.

If you are the operator / admin

You have full control over deletion:

Delete a user account

From the Users area in the app, an admin can:

  • Deactivate a user (disables sign-in immediately and invalidates their sessions), or
  • Delete a user outright.

Safeguard: the app will not let you delete or demote the last active admin, so the books can never be locked out.

What's deleted: the user's account record (email, name, role, hashed password) and their sessions. What's retained: ledger entries that user created are not deleted with the account. Posted transactions are immutable by design (an audit-trail requirement) and remain part of the books. Deleting the person does not erase the financial history they recorded.

Delete financial data

Posted transactions are immutable and are corrected with reversing entries, not edits or deletes. This preserves a clean audit trail. To remove financial data outright (e.g. decommissioning an entity or wiping a test data set), the operator acts at the database level:

  • Use the project's data-clearing tooling (e.g. the clear-data maintenance script) for transactional data, or
  • Drop/recreate the database for a full wipe.

Delete everything

Because you host it, you can destroy all data at any time by deleting your BAMF Books database (and any backups you keep). Once you do, it is gone: the publisher holds no copy to restore from.

Data the publisher holds

None from your instance. The only information we might have is what you voluntarily emailed us for support (your email address and message). To have that deleted, email support@bamfapps.com and ask; we will delete it.
